USGBC-Louisiana is proud to partner with Global Green and AIA New Orleans to welcome Historic Green's invited speaker, Rick Fedrizzi. Mr. Fedrizzi, founding chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 1993, was appointed President & CEO in April 2004. Under his leadership, the Council has tripled its membership, broadened its influence, and cemented its role as a leadership voice in the global sustainability movement.
The evolution and extension of the internationally recognized LEED Green Building Rating System to all building types and expansion of LEED certification and accreditation through the spin off the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), of which Rick is chairman, has helped build in speed and capacity to the organization. Collaboration, though work with the Clinton Global Initiative, the International Codes Council, AIA, ASHRAE, ASID, ASLA, BOMA and IFMA has broadened the base of green building. Expanded outreach and education, advocacy support for public policy initiatives, and a heightened emphasis on green building's role in social equity progress are part of Rick's vision for the organization.

news — Sat, 02/27/2010 - 21:53
Mr. John Anderson, LA CHAPTER US Green Building Council Chair, participated in the Keesler Air Force Base's Great Green Exposition in April 2009. The Earth-Arbor Day Celebration is Keesler's way to highlight and bring awareness to many green/environment topics. Over 30 exhibitors showcased a variety of environmental topics to include: saving energy and water, local wildlife, green choices, forestry and ecology, and green building design. Mr. Anderson, the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Louisiana Professional, provided a presentation on energy conservation and environmental attributes for homes and commercial buildings. High performance sustainable buildings (HPSB) provide a healthier environment for its occupants, conserve on energy, reduce waste/toxic exposure, incorporate renewable products, and save money in operating costs over the life of the building.
